After Uddhav’s Call to PM Modi, Maharashtra Governor Asks EC to Hold Legislative Council Polls

A day after Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on makes an attempt to create political instability within the state, Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari on Thursday requested the Election Commission to declare elections to the 9 vacant seats of the state’s Legislative Council.

In his letter to the ballot panel, the Governor mentioned the elections needs to be held ‘at the earliest’ with a view to finish the present uncertainty within the state.

The Governor said that the central authorities has introduced many rest measures relating to the enforcement of lockdown, elections to the council seats could be held with sure tips.

Thackeray had on Wednesday referred to as up the Prime Minister and requested him to intervene, sources had mentioned, as time runs out for him to save lots of his CM seat.
